Where does a local small business owner do her holiday shopping?
In honor of Small Business Saturday, here are a few of my favorite locally owned shops.
1544 South Street
I wandered into this shop for the first time last week, and I left with gifts for my husband, sister, mom, and aunts. I immediately emailed my husband, "FYI, I like everything in this store." Shop here for delicate jewelry, cozy accessories, and contemporary homeware.
41 S. 3rd Street and 1608 Pine Street
I always find new treasures at their Old City shop. This perfectly packaged amaryllis makes a great hostess gift. For something cozy and whimsical, there's this giant SCARF scarf. Check out their stationery, accessories, and home goods.
117 S. 13th Street
This is my go-to shop for luxury bath products. Everything is handmade locally of all natural ingredients. The Eucalyptus Steam Pouches are a refreshing treat when I have a winter cold, and I give them to everyone. I also love the Sugar Scrub in Lemon Verbena for super-soft skin. Now that I'm 32 weeks pregnant, I swear by the Belly Balm. It's a perfect stocking stuffer for the mamas-to-be on your list.
108 S. 13th Street
Right across from D&L is one of my favorite spots for women's gifts. This year I had a specific mission- outfit my North Carolinian winter-hating mother and sister with enough snuggly accessories to survive their visits to see my January baby. Mission accomplished. They also sell Barbuzzo's Salted Caramel Budinos for special occasions- yum!
116 N. 3rd Street
I can count on this place for the amateur bartenders in my life (my husband and brother.) The Old City shop just reopened after a renovation, and it's beautiful. I love to browse the vintage barware, artisanal bitters, and fancy ice cubes.
